Taxonomy: Phalacrocorax pelagicus Pallas, 1811, eastern Kamachatka and the Aleutian Islands.
sometimes placed in genus Stictocarbo. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- pelagicus Pallas, 1811 - N Pacific.
- resplendens Audubon, 1838 - British Columbia to NW Mexico.
