Taxonomy: Carpophaga latrans Peale, 1848, Fiji.
Forms a superspecies with D. brenchleyi, D. bakeri and D. goliath; this group also shows some affinities with the D. pinon species-group. Monotypic.
Distribution: Fiji, mainly on large to medium-sized islands.
