Taxonomy: Polioptila paraensis Todd, 1937, Benevides, Pará, Brazil.
Until recently treated as conspecific with P. guianensis and P. facilis. All three, together with P. clementsi, form a group that is probably sister to P. schistaceigula. Monotypic.

Distribution: Brazil S of R Amazon (C Amazonas S to W Mato Grosso, and E to E & NE Pará and Maranhão) and N Bolivia.
