Taxonomy: Brachygalba goeringi P. L. Sclater and Salvin, 1869, near Maruria, north of Lake Valencia, at foot of Guiguc Mountains, Venezuela.
Forms a superspecies with B. salmoni, B. lugubris and B. albogularis. Monotypic.

Distribution: NE Colombia (Arauca, Casanare) and NW Venezuela (Lara E to Aragua, N Guárico, Barinas, Apure).
