Taxonomy: Polyplectron emphanum Temminck, 1831, Sunda Islands or the Moluccas; error = Palawan.
Has occasionally been considered to form a superspecies with P. malacense and P. schleiermacheri. Monotypic.
Distribution: Palawan I, SW Philippines.
