Other common names: Asiatic/Eastern/Oriental Dotterel/Sandplover, Greater Oriental Plover

Taxonomy: Charadrius veredus Gould, 1848, northern Australia.
Sometimes placed in genus Eupoda. Formerly considered conspecific with C. asiaticus; probably best considered to form superspecies with C. asiaticus, and possibly with C. montanus. Monotypic.

Distribution: S Siberia (Tuvinskaya and S Transbaikalia) through W, N & E Mongolia to extreme NE China (N Inner Mongolia and NW Manchuria). Winters from Greater Sundas to NW & NC Australia, sparsely in S.
