Taxonomy: Stactocichla merulina annamensis Robinson and Kloss, 1919, Dran [11º49¢ N, 108º38¢E], Annam, Vietnam.
Genus usually merged into Garrulax. Until recently regarded as conspecific with S. merulina. Monotypic.

Distribution: S Annam, in S Vietnam.
