Taxonomy: Picumnus limae Snethlage, 1924, Serra de Maranguape, Ceará, Brazil.
Probably related to P. fulvescens, and sometimes regarded as conspecific. Form saturatus, described from Paraíba and previously listed as a race of present species, is now considered a junior synonym of P. fulvescens (see page 302). Monotypic.

Distribution: NC Ceará in NE Brazil.
