Taxonomy: Gallinago nobilis P. L. Sclater, 1856, Bogotá, Colombia.
Genus formerly named Capella, as this name erroneously considered to pre-date Gallinago (see page 446). Monotypic.

Distribution: N Andes, from NW Venezuela through C Colombia to Ecuador.
