Taxonomy: Cyanops monticola Sharpe, 1889, Mount Kinabalu, Borneo.
Relationships unclear. Has been considered to form a superspecies with M. asiatica, and sometimes even thought conspecific, but differences in morphology indicate separate species status. Has also been allied by some authors to M. oorti. Monotypic.
