Spanish: Anade Malgache
Taxonomy: Anas melleri P. L. Sclater, 1865, Madagascar.
Forms superspecies with A. platyrhynchos, A. rubripes and A. undulata. Clearly derived from A. platyrhynchos, but apparently more distantly related than other isolated descendants of that species. Monotypic.
Distribution: E and High Plateau of Madagscar; introduced to Mauritius.
