Taxonomy: Rallicula rubra mayri Hartert, 1930, Cyclops Mountains, New Guinea.
Sometimes retained in Rallicula. Forms superspecies with R. leucospila and R. forbesi. Two subspecies recognized.

- mayri (Hartert, 1930) - Cyclops Mts, NE Irian Jaya.
- carmichaeli (Diamond, 1969) - Torricelli and Bewani Mts, NW Papua New Guinea.
