Taxonomy: Cyornis sanfordi Stresemann, 1931, Matinan Mountains, northern Sulawesi.
Placement in genus Niltava has been considered more appropriate for this species. Forms a superspecies with C. hyacinthinus and C. hoevelli. Monotypic.
Distribution: Minahassa Peninsula, in N Sulawesi.
