Taxonomy: Scolopax Fedoa Linnaeus, 1758, Hudson Bay.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- beringiae Gibson & Kessel, 1989 - Alaska Peninsula; winters on Pacific coast of USA from S Washington to C California.
- fedoa (Linnaeus, 1758) - C Alberta and SW Manitoba to SC Montana and W Minnesota, also SW James Bay; winters from California and the Carolinas S to Panama, occasionally occurring S to N Chile, Colombia and Venezuela.
