Taxonomy: Trogon fasciatus Pennant, 1769, Sri Lanka.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- malabaricus (Gould, 1834) - W & E peninsular India in Western and Eastern Ghats.
- fasciatus (Pennant, 1769) - Sri Lanka.
