Taxonomy: Tetrao nigricollis Gmelin, 1789, Madagascar.
Monotypic.
Distribution: Madagascar; also Mauritius, Reunion and Glorieuses Is, but possibly introduced to all of these, though may have colonized them, e.g. introduced to Reunion, but an indigenous population may have existed there already.
