Taxonomy: Hydropsalis lyra Bonaparte, 1850, Bogotá.
Three subspecies recognized.

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • lyra (Bonaparte, 1850) - W Venezuela, W Colombia and C Ecuador.
  • peruana (Berlepsch & Stolzmann, 1906) - C & E Peru and W & C Bolivia.
  • argentina Olrog, 1975 - N Argentina and possibly S Bolivia.
