Taxonomy: Charadrius placidus J. E. and G. R. Gray, 1863, Nepal.
Has on occasion been considered a race of C. hiaticula; sometimes included within the C. hiaticula superspecies. Monotypic.
Distribution: Russian Far East, EC to NE China and Japan. Winters from E Nepal and NE India to N Indochina, S China, S Korea and Japan.
