Other common names: Allied/Dusky Shearwater
Taxonomy: Puffinus assimilis Gould, 1838, New South Wales = Norfolk Island.
Sometimes considered to include P. lherminieri and P. heinrothi. Race boydi should perhaps be ascribed to former. Eight subspecies normally recognized.
