Taxonomy: Saxicola rufocinerea Rüppell, 1837, Simen Province, northern Ethiopia.
Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- rufocinereus (Rüppell, 1837) - Eritrea, Ethiopia, N Somalia, E Uganda, Kenya and NE Tanzania.
- sclateri Hartert, 1917 - SW Arabian Peninsula.
