Taxonomy: Tringa minutilla Vieillot, 1819, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Formerly placed in genus Erolia. Forms superspecies with C. subminuta, with which in past considered conspecific. Monotypic.

Distribution: Alaska through NW & NC Canada to Quebec, Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Winters from S USA through Central America and West Indies to N Chile and CE Brazil.
