Taxonomy: Otis Vigorsii A. Smith, 1831, South Africa.
Forms parapatric species pair with E. rueppellii, with which frequently considered conspecific; these two and E. humilis formerly placed in genus Heterotetrax. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- namaqua (Roberts, 1932) - S Namibia and NW Cape Province.
- vigorsii (A. Smith, 1831) - South Africa, in Orange Free State and S Cape Province.
