Taxonomy: Podiceps taczanowskii Berlepsch and Stolzmann, 1894, Lake Junín, Peru.
Sometimes placed in genus Dytes. May form superspecies with P. nigricollis, P. andinus and P. occipitalis, although sympatric with P. o. juninensis. Monotypic.
Distribution: L Junín, C Peru; recently introduced to other nearby lakes.
