Taxonomy: Psittacus iris Temminck, 1835, Timor.
Sometimes placed in Trichoglossus or even Neopsittacus. Validity of race rubripileum questionable, and claimed differences may be due to age or individual variation. Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- iris (Temminck, 1835) - W Timor.
- rubripileum (Salvadori, 1891) - E Timor.
- wetterensis (Hellmayr, 1912) - Wetar.
