Taxonomy: Habroptila wallacii G. R. Gray, 1860, Halmahera.
Sometimes placed in Rallus for no good reason, but probably derived from Amaurornis; very close to Megacrex, which is its ecological counterpart in New Guinea. Monotypic.
Distribution: Halmahera (N Moluccas).
