Taxonomy: Gallinago imperialis P. L. Sclater and Salvin, 1869, Bogotá, Colombia.
Formerly placed in genus Chubbia. Monotypic.

Distribution: Isolated sites in Peru, in Piura, Amazonas, La Libertad and Cuzco.
