Taxonomy: Cuculus basalis Horsfield, 1821, Java.
Asian and Australasian forms of Chrysococcyx sometimes placed in genus Chalcites. Monotypic.
Distribution: Australia and Tasmania. Winters N to Java and irregularly beyond.
