Taxonomy: Charadrius rubricollis Gmelin, 1789, Adventure Bay, Tasmania.
Recently placed by some authors in genus Thinornis with C. novaeseelandiae (see page 385). Monotypic.
Distribution: S Australia and Tasmania.
