Taxonomy: [Cutia] Nipalensis Hodgson, 1837, Nepal.
Formerly treated as conspecific with C. legalleni. Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- nipalensis Hodgson, 1837 - E Uttaranchal Pradesh E to Bhutan and NE Indian hill states (except Meghalaya), NW & N Myanmar and S China (adjacent SE Xizang, extreme NW Yunnan, possibly extending to SW Sichuan).
- melanchima Deignan, 1947 - E & SE Myanmar, S China (W & S Yunnan), NW Thailand, N & C Laos and NW Vietnam (W Tonkin).
- cervinicrissa Sharpe, 1888 - Peninsular Malaysia.
