Taxonomy: Otis heuglinii Hartlaub, 1859, near the wells of Thushha, between Zeila and Harar.
Genus sometimes merged with Otis. Present species considered to form parapatric species pair with N. denhami, but perhaps in reality closer to N. nuba. Monotypic.
Distribution: Eritrea, E & S Ethiopia, Djibouti, N & SC Somalia and N Kenya.
