Taxonomy: Thamnobia simplex Cabanis, 1878, Ndi, Taita District, Kenya.
Forms a superspecies with C. undosus, C. stierlingi and C. fasciolatus. Sometimes considered conspecific with first two of those, but no intergradation where their ranges meet. Monotypic.
Distribution: SE Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, N and S Somalia, Kenya, E Uganda and N Tanzania.
