Taxonomy: Procellaria cinerea Gmelin, 1789, within the Antarctic Circle = New Zealand seas, lat. 48° S.
Formerly isolated in monospecific genus Adamastor. Monotypic.
Distribution: Circumpolar in Southern Ocean, breeding from Tristan da Cunha and Gough I eastwards through S Indian Ocean to Campbell and Antipodes Is.
