Taxonomy: Ptilocolpa carola Bonaparte, 1854, Philippine Islands.
A distinctive species of uncertain affinities, perhaps most closely allied to the D. poliocephala species-group. Three subspecies recognized.

Subspecies and Distribution:

  • carola (Bonaparte, 1854) - Luzon, Mindoro and Sibuyan (N Philippines).
  • nigrorum (Whitehead, 1897) - Negros and Siquijor (EC Philippines).
  • mindanensis (Ogilvie-Grant, 1905) - Mindanao (SE Philippines).
