Taxonomy: Basileuterus griseiceps P. L. Sclater and Salvin, 1868, woods of Caripe, Venezuela.
Affinities within genus uncertain; has been suggested that it is close to B. leucoblepharus, but the two are quite different in morphology, behaviour and habitat. Monotypic.
Distribution: Cordillera de Caripe (NE Venezuela).
