Taxonomy: Myrmoderus griseiceps Chapman, 1923, Palambla, 4000 feet [c. 1220 m], Piura, Peru.
Genus appears not to represent a monophyletic grouping, but traditional arrangement maintained pending further phylogenetic study. Relationships uncertain; possibly related to M. nigricauda. Monotypic.

Distribution: Extreme SW Ecuador (El Oro, Loja) and NW Peru (Tumbes, Piura).
