Taxonomy: Chamaetylas princei Sharpe, 1874, Denkera, in the interior of Fantee, Ghana.
Race batesi has been considered by various authors to be closely related to race graueri of Z. camaronensis, to which it is very similar in plumage. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- princei (Sharpe, 1874) - E Sierra Leone and Liberia E to Ghana.
- batesi (Sharpe, 1905) - SE Nigeria, W & S Cameroon and N Gabon; E DRCongo and W Uganda.
