Other common names: Dusky(!)/White-shafted/Cranky Fantail; White-tailed Fantail (albicauda)

Taxonomy: Rhipidura albiscapa Gould, 1840, Tasmania.
Forms a superspecies with R. hyperythra, R. albolimbata, R. fuliginosa and R. phasiana. Often considered conspecific with R. fuliginosa but differs markedly in vocalizations. Eight subspecies recognized.
