Grey-cheeked Nunlet (Nonnula frontalis) - HBW 7, p. 135
French: Barbacou à joues grises
German: Grauwangen-Faulvogel
Spanish: Monjilla Carigrís
Taxonomy: Malacoptila frontalis P. L. Sclater, 1854, interior of Colombia.
Forms a superspecies with N. ruficapilla and N. amaurocephala; has at times been treated as conspecific with the former of these, and also with N. brunnea. Nominate race somewhat variable in colour, and is thought possibly to comprise more than one taxon; further investigation and analysis required. Race pallescens has on occasion been considered to belong to N. ruficapilla, although both geographically and morphologically they are decidedly distant. Three subspecies currently recognized.

- pallescens Todd, 1919 - Caribbean lowlands of N Colombia.
