Other common names: D'Orbigny's Seedsnipe
Taxonomy: Tinochorus [sic] Orbignyianus I. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire and Lesson, 1831, Santiago, Chile.
Racial differentiation appears to be rather weak. Two subspecies normally recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- ingae Tschudi, 1843 - Andes from N Peru through W Bolivia to N Chile (Tarapacá) and NW Argentina (Catamarca).
- orbignyianus I. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire & Lesson, 1831 - Andes from NC Chile (Antofagasta) and NC Argentina (La Rioja) S to Tierra del Fuego.
