Monotypic.

Distribution: Guatemala and Belize S through Panama to Colombia and N Ecuador; Venezuela and the Guianas S through Amazonian Brazil and W to E Peru and N Bolivia; extreme SE Brazil; also S Paraguay (Villa Hayes), where status uncertain.
