Taxonomy: Trochilus Conversii Bourcier and Mulsant, 1846, Bogotá.
Often placed in genus Popelairia, along with D. popelairii, D. langsdorffi and D. letitiae; genus closely related to Lophornis. Monotypic.
Distribution: Costa Rica and Panama through W Colombia to W Ecuador.
