Other common names: White-eyed Kestrel
Taxonomy: Falco Rupicoloides A. Smith, 1829, South Africa.
May form superspecies with F. alopex, but quite different in ecology and proportions. Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- fieldi (Elliot, 1897) - N & E Ethiopia, NW Somalia.
- arthuri (Gurney, 1884) - NE Tanzania, Kenya.
- rupicoloides A. Smith, 1829 - Namibia, Botswana, SW Zambia and Zimbabwe to South Africa.
