Taxonomy: Spilornis klossi Richmond, 1902, Great Nicobar Island.
Taxonomic status uncertain, although existence of two species of Spilornis in Nicobar Is generally agreed upon: present species sometimes considered conspecific with S. cheela; S. (cheela) minimus often awarded full species status, in which case usually considered to include S. klossi as race. Currently considered to form superspecies with S. cheela, S. kinabaluensis, S. rufipectus and S. holospilus. Monotypic.

Distribution: Great Nicobar I (Nicobar Is).
