Taxonomy: Iora Lafresnayei Hartlaub, 1844, Melaka, Peninsular Malaysia.
Race innotata intergrades with nominate in Malay Peninsula. Three subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- innotata (Blyth, 1847) - S Myanmar and S China (S Yunnan) S to N Malay Peninsula, S Laos and C Vietnam.
- lafresnayei (Hartlaub, 1844) - extreme S Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia (S to S hills of Johor).
- xanthotis (Sharpe, 1882) - Cambodia and S Vietnam.
