Taxonomy: Todirostrum calopterum P. L. Sclater, 1857, River Napo, Ecuador.
Formerly placed in genus Todirostrum. Forms a superspecies with P. pulchellus, and often considered conspecific. Monotypic.
Distribution: S Colombia (SE Nariño, W Putumayo), E Ecuador and NE Peru (Loreto).
