Other common names: Golden Honeyeater, Cleptornis
Taxonomy: Ptilotis marchei Oustalet, 1889, Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands.
Was initially placed in now defunct genus Ptilotis within honeyeater family (Meliphagidae), with a new genus provisionally established for it in the event that it should prove more distinct. Much later, DNA analysis indicated the affinities of this species and also genus Apalopteron to current family, in which both were then incorporated. Closest to Rukia. Monotypic.
Distribution: Saipan and Aguijan, in S Northern Mariana Is.
