Giant Snipe (Gallinago undulata) - HBW 3, p. 497

German: Riesenbekassine
Spanish: Agachadiza Gigante
Other common names: Guianan Giant Snipe
Taxonomy: Scolopax undulata Boddaert, 1783, Cayenne.
Genus formerly named Capella, as this name erroneously considered to pre-date Gallinago (see page 446). Some authors suggest that race gigantea may merit treatment as separate species. Two subspecies recognized.

- gigantea (Temminck, 1826) - E Bolivia, Paraguay and SE Brazil; probably also Uruguay and NE Argentina.
