Taxonomy: Ibis gigantea Oustalet, 1877, Mekong River, Cambodia.
Sometimes placed in monospecific genus Thaumatibis. Monotypic.
Distribution: Once widespread in Indochina, range now much reduced; apparently restricted to S Viet Nam, though also suspected to occur in Kampuchea.
