Taxonomy: Babax waddelli Dresser, 1905, Tsangpo Valley, Xizang (Tibet), China.
Proposed race lumsdeni, described from Le La, on SE Xizang border with Arunachal Pradesh (NE India), is merged with nominate. Two subspecies recognized.
Subspecies and Distribution:
- jomo Vaurie, 1955 - Gyangze region (N of E Nepal-W Bhutan), in S Xizang (China).
- waddelli Dresser, 1905 - Lhasa region and Lhünzhub E to R Yi’ong Zangbo and S to Lhünze (on upper R Subansiri), in SE Xizang.
