Taxonomy: Ornismya Rhami Lesson, 1838, Mexico.
Possibly belongs in Basilinna. Proposed races occidentalis (Guerrero) and saturatior (Honduras and N El Salvador) based on colour and size variation, but both patterns are either age-dependent or clinal in character and thus unsuitable criteria for subspecific recognition. Monotypic.

Distribution: C & S Mexico (Guerrero, Puebla and W Veracruz S through Oaxaca to Chiapas) S to Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
